Parquet Flooring

Parquet floors are the Rolls Royce of flooring. A parquet floor comprises individual pieces of wood to form a pattern. The 2 main types of parquet are finger blocks (looks like 5 pieces of Jenga pushed together) or larger individual blocks. These can be arranged in many different types of patterns most commonly known is herringbone, however chevron is increasingly popular.

The beauty of parquet is that is entirely bespoke so the design options are endless. You can keep the floor all the same species, typically oak if it is a herringbone floor, or include a border of a different species, such as walnut or wenge. The border could be as many blocks wide as you want and even in various orientations. 

The introduction of engineered pre-finished wood blocks and panels means that the size of the blocks can be a lot wider and longer than your traditional solid block. These are perfect for bigger rooms or multiple rooms as they help extend the width and length and, in truth, stop the floor from looking bitty. Bigger rooms need a more significant block. It also gives customers the choice of having the floor finished off-site and, in turn, more options in the finish, such as smoked or ambered, as well as stains.

Versailles panels are making a big comeback and look stunning when fitted. Although the cost of the panels will be more expensive the speed at which they are fitted in comparison to other forms of parquet starts to balance out the costings.
